Reto Amber 800 - Canon AE-1

September 1, 2025 - It has been almost 9 whole months since I last shot my Canon AE-1 as I took a detour into point-and-shoots for traveling convenience. However, our trip up to Bellevue, WA gave me several perfect reasons to bust out my fully manual film camera again! (I ended up shooting the roll through Oregon and Washington though.) We came up to visit one of my best friends, Steven. Steven is also a photographer (among other things), so we decided this would be a chill art trip. We came up with a small list of prompts to help narrow our focus, and just as a fun challenge to see what we came out with. The trip was just about hanging out, enjoying each other’s company, and walking around shooting photos for fun. It was a great way to spend the holiday weekend and celebrate Steven’s belated birthday!

A technical detail: I traded in some old camera equipment I didn’t really use anymore to buy an FD 35mm f/2.0 lens for my Canon AE-1. This 35mm lens was really what I wanted in the first place, so I was really excited to take this one out shooting on this trip! Unfortunately this is the second or third roll showing this light leak in the same exact spot, so I need to get my Canon AE-1 looked at and fixed, as those previous rolls were shot with a different lens.
